Alright, let’s jump into today’s episode. So today is going to be a little bit different than my typical episodes. You guys found out on the last episode that Anything but Average is evolving just a bit to focus on helping you change your life so then you can help other people change their lives. And I have a mastermind available right now for coaches.
So what I wanted to talk about today was the five biggest mistakes coaches make that keep them from creating the impact that they want to make, hitting the goals that they want to hit in their coaching business, and continuing to live out the life that they are truly meant to live.
Now, if you guys aren’t a coach, you’re still going to get so much value from this. But for those of you who are, listen up, I have been studying you guys and I’ve been studying my own journey. And these are the things that I’m going to help the 20 women in the mastermind break through.
So maybe you guys aren’t a coach yet, but you want to be, this is something you’re going to want to listen to too. So number one, one of the five biggest mistakes that coaches make that keep them from creating their anything but average coaching business. They think they need to be in front of more people.
So they keep having the thought, “I need to be in front of more people.” Now, that seems logical. Trust me guys, I’ve had that thought before. But what I’ve realized is this. When you have the thought, “I need to be in front of more people,” what you spend your time on is trying to get in front of more people.
When you’re doing that, you’re not spending time on adding value to the people who are in front of you. You’re not spending time getting better at articulating your message and helping the people and the clients that are in front of you now, and the people who are ready and available to invest and work with you and have you help them change their lives right now. That is the focus that is going to help you bring in more people.
People are attracted to coaches based on how they’re showing up now. If you’re showing up and serving your audience at the highest level possible, then you’re going to draw in more people. If you focus on trying to get more people, you’re not going to be focused on the one thing that’s going to draw in more people, which is the value that you’re creating as a coach.
How many of you guys are doing that? I did that for like a whole year, and I would be in a different place if I hadn’t. Number two, they sacrifice to hit their goal. So, some of you guys are going to hear that and you’re going to be like, wait a minute, I thought that was a part of the equation. I am here to tell you that it’s not.
If you are being coached at a high level on your mind and you know how to change your mindset the way you need to, you will not feel the need to sacrifice to hit your goal. You will show up consistently, you will know exactly what you need to do, and you will also have really strong boundaries around your life so that you can build your business consistently and continue to live your life in a way that works and allows you to thrive and feel good and feel taken care of.
So when you sacrifice, you stop enjoying your life and then when you stop enjoying your life as a coach, you stop being an example of your work. You’re helping people change their lives, whatever your focus is. Some of you guys might be health coaches, life coaches, I mean, I don’t even care what kind of coach you are. Like a cooking coach, a mom coach, it doesn’t matter.
But your biggest asset in being a coach to grow your business and continue to fuel your purpose forward and impact more people is to be an example of your work. When you’re sacrificing and making your life a living hell to try to hit your goals, you are not doing that and it’s actually getting you further from your goals. This is another big thing we’re going to focus on in the mastermind.
Number three, they start to focus on business things. So, they hit a certain level and they’re like, oh, I need to think about all of these business-y type things and get involved in them. Now, business isn’t a problem. Obviously, I run a business and it’s important that I do business things. But why you’re doing it is what’s important.
And usually, the reason why this is a mistake is you’re doing it because you think that that’s what’s going to create your results and you forget that you and your mind are the key to creating the results in your life, and the business-y things and the inspired action is going to come as a byproduct of planting the seeds in the right soil.
When you stop focusing on applying your work and the work you teach the world to yourself and start focusing on what do you need to do, again, you stop being an example of the work you teach. You stop creating results with the work you teach.
Even if you don’t teach building a coaching business, you’re still teaching other people mindset and how to change their life through inner work. You have to use that same skillset to create change and results in your life. That’s what builds even more belief in your work and will allow you to offer it and sell it at a higher level.
When you start to think the answer is some business thing, you stop believing the answer is your coaching. And when you stop believing your answer is your coaching, then you also don’t believe it’s the answer for your clients.
Number four, they start to make it about them. They start to make their goals about them, they start to make signing clients about themselves, they start to make all of the things about them. Now, I think it’s important doing your own work obviously based on all these examples I’ve given you is at the core of this.
So, you don’t have to feel shame that you’re making it about you. But when you’re making it about you hitting the goal or you signing the client so you can hit the goal or you doing x, y, z in your business so that you can hit the goal, what you’re not doing is thinking about the client.
And the reason why you got into a coaching business was to help people. So the work and what we’re going to work on in the mastermind is actually changing how you’re approaching your goals, how you’re approaching your clients, how you’re approaching everything you’re doing in a business and seeing those decisions from a place of serving them. When you do that, that’s the thinking that’s going to create even bigger results.
And number five, they stop seeing themselves as a badass for whatever they’re created thus far, whatever results they have, and they start focusing on the gap in where they’re going and where they’re not that they want to be.
I’ve seen this happen so many times. I can’t tell you how many times I’ve done this myself where we forget that even changing one person’s life is profound. Where we forget that we’ve created amazing results in our life and we start to think that’s not enough and we start to think whatever goal we’ve hit in our business and in our lives isn’t enough, and we start focusing on the gap.
And when we do that, we start to try to create results from a place of it not being enough. And when you’re trying to hit a goal from a place of it not being enough, when you’re trying to create more from a place of lack and fear and not enoughness, you end up creating more of that lack and fear and not enoughness, and it creates a cycle.
One of the biggest things we’re going to do in this mastermind is work on focusing and recognizing the badass that you are no matter what results you’ve created so you can feel confident and go out and serve your purpose and build your coaching business in a way that feels good, in a way and from a place that this is more than enough, I’ve created awesome results, even if it’s just in your life, and I want to do more.
That’s different energy. That’s magnetic energy. That’s going to create more results. So, these are the five biggest mistakes I see coaches make. These are the five plus more, but these are the five things we are going to focus on breaking through in the Anything but Average coach mastermind.
